Perfection - Final exhibition

Intro
My final exhibition project at Forsbergs Skola was based on the theme Perfection. I started with a simple question: what is perfection to me? I realized that for me, it does not exist. Perfection is a lie. Something we construct and try to live up to. I wanted to explore what a lie really is and how it manifests. To me, it became clear that we can be two faced. We present a version of ourselves that does not fully reflect who we are. We pretend to be something we are not. From that idea, my concept took shape. I worked with four girls, splitting each image into two parts. One side is natural, without makeup, showing insecurities such as vitiligo or acne. The other side presents a facade with heavy make up. A version often perceived as perfect. The concept highlights how we hide behind a facade we believe is perfect. But the truth is, perfection is not found there. It already exists in what is real. Without filters, without layers, without a facade. Another part of the concept was to present the pieces as Vogue-inspired covers. Each poster features the typography “THE LIE” along with a subheading, echoing the structure of a real magazine cover, but instead revealing a raw and honest reality. I also wanted the viewer to become part of the exhibition. That is why I introduced a fifth piece: a mirror. Placed between the works, it invited viewers to look at themselves under the words “THE TRUTH”. A moment to face yourself as you are. Your truth. This element became a highlight during the exhibition, with many visitors responding strongly and sharing very positive feedback. I also chose to include a child in the project. Children today grow up surrounded by social media and the standards it creates. They observe, learn and adapt. But children should be allowed to simply be children. This project is my reflection on today’s beauty standards and how they affect us, especially young people.
